New Bukumbi Coffee Processors Limited
Premium Uganda coffee processing company

New Bukumbi Coffee Processors Limited is a locally owned Ugandan coffee processing and exporting company, strategically located in the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains near Fort Portal. The company specializes in producing and exporting organically grown, high-quality premium and specialty Arabica coffee using a "sustainable coffee" model that emphasizes traceability, quality enhancement, and financial accountability to its smallholder farmer network.
Unique Location and Quality: Located in the Rwenzori mountain ranges, the facility benefits from ideal high altitude growing conditions (above 5,000 feet) known to produce dense coffee beans with complex, nuanced flavors like citrus, vanilla, and chocolate.
Farmer Network: The company has organized over 3,000 farmers into 32 registered village cooperatives or Community Based Organizations (CBOs). This structure allows for streamlined training on good agricultural practices and ensures full traceability of the coffee from farm to export.
Processing Capabilities: It operates the only facility of its kind in the entire Kabarole, Bundibugyo, Bunyangabu, and Ntoroko districts, equipped with both wet processing capabilities and a dry mill.
Financial Inclusion: By leveraging data collected from its farmer network, the company successfully partnered with a microfinance institution (MFI) to provide affordable, unsecured agricultural loans to over 2,000 unbanked farmers via mobile phone technology.
Partnerships & Recognition: New Bukumbi Coffee has benefited from grant schemes to scale operations and has partnered with organizations like the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and Equity Bank on agricultural projects (e.g., a potato seed project for disadvantaged communities).
Leadership: The company is managed by David Baingana Ndemeire, the key principal and managing director.
