Mairye Estates is a long-standing commercial farm specialized in the cultivation and export of roses and fresh herbs. Operating from a large estate in Wakiso District, the firm is a key member of the Uganda Flowers Exporters Association (UFEA) and a significant contributor to Uganda’s non-traditional export sector.
Agricultural production: The estate specializes in cut roses and a diverse range of fresh herbs, including chives, basil, mint, thyme, tarragon, rosemary, coriander, parsley, dill, and lovage.
Export market reach: Historically, the firm has conducted over 2,300 export shipments to nearly 100 international buyers. Its primary markets are the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Workforce and scale: The firm employs approximately 900 people at its main site, managing extensive greenhouse operations and post harvest facilities.
Industry standing: Mairye is recognized as a registered exporter by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), consistently ranking among the top horticultural exporters in the country.
Sustainability and compliance: The farm utilizes advanced greenhouse technology and adheres to international phytosanitary standards required for exporting fresh produce to the European Union and other global destinations.
