Ham Agro-Processing Industries

Uganda farm produce sourcing and trading

Ham Agro-Processing Industries is a multi-billion dollar Ugandan industrial subsidiary of the Ham Group of Companies, founded by businessman Hamis Kiggundu. Established to transform Uganda's agricultural sector from raw produce export to a value-addition model, the company operates a flagship Integrated Agro-Processing Industrial Plant (IAIP) valued at approximately $156 million.

  • National Agro-Zoning Strategy: The firm has mapped Uganda into 10 agro-ecological zones (such as Lake Victoria Crescent, Kyoga Plains, and Pastoral Rangelands) to set up specialized regional processing hubs tailored to local crops.

  • Integrated Industrial Park: The main facility at Akright City features state-of-the-art infrastructure including 500,000 metric ton silos, cold storage units, and automated processing lines.

  • Diverse Processing Capabilities:

  1. Fruits & Vegetables: Automated juice extraction and vegetable processing.

  2. Grains & Cereals: Large-scale milling, drying, and specialized storage solutions.

  3. Livestock & Poultry: Integrated meat, poultry, and fish processing units.

  • Ham Agro Bank: A unique financing arm that provides farmers with machinery, seeds, and agribusiness capital, where loans can be repaid directly in the form of agro-produce.

  • Value Chain Services: The company offers end-to-end logistics, eco-friendly packaging solutions, and international marketing through its dedicated export offices.

  • Strategic Impact (2025): By late 2025, the group employs over 7,000 workers and continues to promote import substitution by converting raw local produce into finished retail products.
